Our People
In addition to the 300 people working full-time for our company, Cafe Duran supports more than 500
native families of the Ngobe-Bugle tribe, to whom we provides housing, utilities, schooling for their
children, transportation and medical attention. Over 30,000 families of small-scale coffee growers make
their income by selling their coffee to our collection centers. These people link their lives around a
steaming cup of Cafe Duran coffee.
Our Planet
Our family is strongly committed to preserving Panama's ecosystem as a legacy to future generations.
From this commitment as dreamed by Lorenzo Romagosa, Cafe Duran's reforestation program, "Green Planet", was born.
In his pursuit to generate jobs, strengthen the economy and counteract deforestation, Lorenzo Romagosa bought 2000 acres in
Horconcitos region, located at the province of Chiriquí, where exotic woods such as Acacia Mangium, African
Mahogany and Spiny Cedar have been planted.
We also implemented our own recycling system for raw materials. Coffee cherries are used as natural
fertilizer in the plantations and the grain husks are used for combustion in the roasting ovens.
Our plant has the most advanced purifying filtering system that eliminates all environmental pollutants.
